The Power of Apple's Silicon Design Cycle

Apple has managed to keep their silicon design cycle in lockstep with their hardware design cycle and product life cycle. Apple doesn't think of themselves as semiconductor designers, they think of them as SOC designers. Their marching goal is performance per watt because the more you can bring on to your SOC that makes the most sense. The iPhone comes out every year it's fundamental to the company.
