The Importance of Intellectual Formation
Paul urged the Ephesians to attain to the deep knowledge of the Son of God. The more we know about the purpose of life and the ingredients of a life well lived, the more focused we can become in pursuing that style of life. In terms of the faith, it makes no sense to be content with an eighth grader's knowledge of the teachings of the church. Far too many people blithely write off millennia of wisdom, saying that they simply don't accept it.
