The first thing is to do something like start a publication, get feedback and then keep improving in response to the feedback. It's very helpful to own a certain area, a niche. You don't want to be so broad that you're just another voice in politics or another voice in sports. No one else can be you in the world. The most important thing is to tell people where to go find this important work.
