Female Doctors Are Paid Less Than Male Doctors

Just 36% of doctors are female. Female doctors over all, are also paid less than their male canterparks a lot less. This is because insurers tend not to pay male and female doctors different prices for the services they provide. A colonoscope gets paid the same price, regardless of whether a man or a woman performs it. In most other industries, these sorts of data don't exist. But in medicine, we're lucky. We have really detailed data on the things that we know may impact income - like the number of patients a doctors sees,. The types of procedures or care they perform, the amount of research funding they have. I could go on.
