What Did I Love by Ellen Bass?

Ellen Bass' poem What Did I Love was published in the New Yorker this past February, February 2013. Phil Levine: "It was such a strange and haunting collection of feelings and attitudes" He says he found it so powerful and complex that it gave him a sense of surgical slaughter and yet tenderness. Levine: "I'm empty as I rinse each carcass, and this is what I love most."
