Is There a Shift in the Music Industry?
It does seem to me that there's been a big shift in the people studying music and the people performing music. I'm sure what accounts for it exactly. You know, maybe there are patterns of emigration that relate to that. But i will say an interesting anecdote. A few years ago, i performed in leipzig, which is, of course, bach's hom It was a very staid audience, kind of a restrained audience, i would say. And then from there, i went on a tour of south korea where i performed the goldberg variations in seven different cities. And the concerts were sold out. There were young children at them.
