france for years has called on europe to develop what they call strategic sovereignty some something with roots and in its gallest skepticism of nato is this push to realign europe away from washington. i don't think you have to accept that social spending and defense spending are basically in this really strict trade-off. Social spending in frantas 40 percent of gdp and nato compliant defense spending will be two percent of gDP there's no obvious trade-off eitherYeah so you don't have to deny that there are effective nato membership which are beneficial in some terms or right the u.s basically has to finance a bigger part of it.
Featuring Anton Jäger and Dominik Leusder on Europe and the European Union from the crises of social democratic welfare states in the 1970s and 80s, the Maastricht Treaty of 1992, through the eurozone crisis, to the present moment of war in Ukraine, renewed NATO expansion, and a resurgent far right.
