What Is Venice?
Most goods were produced and consumed locally in local markets. You had to accumulate a certain amount of wealt to get a chance at anything like silks or porcelain, or jade,. And the main portal by which they came in mostly was venice. Venice was the one sort of great naval power of the latin west. It controlled the sea lanes to constantinople and to the islamic middle east. These would then be traded to ports along the coast line between the middle east and europe.
