Now we've networked everybody together and now everybody can look at each other so it used to be very unusual that a poor peasant was in contact with somebody who was very rich. But now you are basically you can be Facebook friends with somebody who is hundred times richer than you. So that means that mimetic desire has exploded in the internet age.
