The Mandibular Face in 87
Stan Winston did say something like explicitly racist about rastafarians in describing how he came up with the character design. So I don't think it's really defensible. White guy dreadlocks were not the thing then that they are now. HR Giger came up with something that was other enough and wasn't referencing just a different culture from that of its creator.
