Chronic dieting and disordered eating are generally responsible for that addictive feeling,. In research studies on so called sugar addiction, for example, the so called indictive behaviors have only been found to occur when deprivation is followed by intermittent access to sweet foods. i call this the restriction pendulum, which is the natural process of swinging from restriction to rebound eating or binging. But it's a very common and understandable response to restriction. The key is letting go of the restriction, because that's what causes the reaction in the first place.
