The Importance of Smoked Meat in Montreal
Just down the street from Milan on St. Laurent and a street nicknamed the Maine are two of Montreal's iconic smoked meat spots, Schwartz's and Maine Deli. Much like Walensky's which won't cut your sandwich in half, Schwartz's has its own rules. You have to order it with basic crinches, mustard, you know, no fancy dijans here. Anybody who asks for it on white with mayo is immediately shown the door.
