The Origins of the Quasar

Astronomers have found a population of stars at the center of the Milky Way that seem to be ancient. It's believed that they are pretty much as old as the Milky Way itself. This is one of the first times that astronomers have ever seen a quasar turn on. The thought is that these stars are the remnants of the proto galaxies that came together to form the Milky Way.
