Government Funding Isn't Perfect
I've had people get very, very mad that we did the subsidy thing. Every news organization trying to keep journalism live in canada has their own standards and a non negotiable principle. To one outlet, it's not going to matter so much to the other. Me, i just really like mattresses and meal kits, and i don't see how selling them hurts our coverage. There's no perfect model for finding journalism, in my opinion. Getting money from advertisers isn't perfect. Having your hosts read advertisements isn'tperfect. Philanthropic funding isn'tPerfect.
