When fuel prices go up, it just becomes crazy for an 18 year old to be trundling around doing don tons of miles in a fuel sucking pickup truck that he has no, no useful need for. If the price of gas makes a big difference in your daily life, you're doing it wrong. It's a sign that your ratio of expenses to your income is out of and you need to change. To build wealth, you have to have your expenses much, much lower than your income then when there are changes in the prices of things, you can absorb those changes.
