Insulin Resistance Related to a Low Carb or Ketogenic Diet

There is a bump in the road that happens when you go from a ketogenic diet to eating carbohydrates in your diet again. Your body has adjusted to what it perceives as starvation and made your muscles and your liver to a significant extent, insulin resistant. This is not the same pathophysiology as insulin resistance related to diabetes or metabolic dysfunction. It begins at the level of the adipose tissue, the fat tissue.
