The Anglo-Saxon Language of the Early Kingdoms

Historians refer to these seven kingdoms as the Heptarchy, based on the Greek word for seven. They endured from the 6th century until the arrival of the Vikings late in the 8th century. The language of the Anglo-Saxons blended together and it became distinct from original languages back on the continent.
