The Importance of Property
A poem rises out of what I would call a predicament. The poet Wallace Stevens wonderfully describes this in terms of the way he describes a poem is a poem is the cry of its occasion. And so, it just seems to me really important that we regain that sense of proportion. Across this planet, even now, of people trying to escape places where there is no water or war occasioned by scarcity. So we have to somehow figure out how to understand what it feels like to have more than you need, enough and not.
