The Benefits of an NG Tube and Lavage
An NG tube and lavage should have a relatively high negative predictive value. If somebody's coming in hot with sepsis, they're entitled to have some melanin because that is really hard on your gut epithelium. But an NG tube doesn't cause trauma to start a GI bleed.
