The Wagner Mercenaries in Mali

Three years after their involvement in Syria began Wagner mercenaries appeared in the Central African Republic. The Russians were seen to have successfully quelled a rebellion there, which entrenched public support for them at a time of strong anti-colonial sentiments. French forces have left Mali and the Wagner mercenaries are believed to have taken over some of their bases in the northern regions. There has been an aggressive anti-French anti-UN forces campaign both in the CentralAfrican Republic and in Mali.
