Pedro Almodová is one of the sharpest, most singular minds working in cinema today. His films have kept me company on the road all year. From Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown to his recent pain and glory, I cannot get enough of his utterly unique lens on life. Pedro's movies are camp but emotionally resonant, glossy but powerful, queer and comedic but grounded and tragic. He has become truly beloved for the way he depicts women, queer folks and gender non-conforming people in his stories.
