How to Be a Good Moderator

V.E. Schwab: There is no clearer sign that a panel is going to be terrible than when everybody sits down and says, Who's moderating? What I'm really looking for is someone who believes that they're there to talk to the audience but also offer them ways to be more effective in the panel. One of my philosophies in moderating and frankly it's one of our philosophies in writing excuses is that the other panelists, My job is to prop them up. And so that's something I really look for.
