The Opposite Problem: Why the Economy Isn't Slowing Down

A year into a record setting pace of interest rate hikes, the economy just isn't slowing. Do we see a pattern here? Well, I'm not so sure. There are lots of potential explanations for why the economy was slow to respond to monetary policy in both instances. Right now, consumers are still benefiting from all the fiscal stimulus that was passed during COVID.
