The Second Set of Prescriptions Work, but at What Cost?
Rome's aristocratic class was able to say, this is too far. In osulla's prescriptions work, but fairly soon after, sulla retires from public life and drinks himself to death. The people were so horrified by the proscriptions that sulla really was shunned. He plays remarkably little role in roman politics after his retirement. Even considering that he dies pretty soon after, no one seems particularly concerned, and he's not well remembered.
