In the essay on transience, freid write, life becomes an interminable mourning of one's own death. In melancholia, what you have is a relationship to loss that is almost a cauderizedi its historical significance and becomes pushed forward into the future as a prospective loss. So in my work, i'm reallyinte sted in the relationship between melancholy and affinitude. And e sort of a thought of a affinit hegel calls the sadness of finitude.
