A land bridge formed on the eastern side of the island, sand stretching off almost over the horizon. The king said that there was nothing in this world that could make a fire that big without it being kindled. A month later, though, the weirdest thing happened. All the men who only had one eye snuffed out the fires and started rooting around in the ash.
