The World Is Your Oyster
One of my favorite pieces in the exhibition was a polychrome machine-made piece from the 1920s that's realized in gold and blue thread. It's kind of this introduction of machine-made lace that we get to see these more fantasy fashion-y design elements and motifs in lace making. Is it the technology itself that facilitated this shift, or would you completely disagree with me on that point? I mean, you certainly do see in handmade lace that these sort of fantasy elements and particular motifs go in and out of style. And so they're really intent on being able to provide. And capitalize.
