In the midst of anti christian hostility, James wants us to fix our own stuff first. Inner decay and destruction is harder to see than outer decay. Hypo cultural compromise, capitulation are a cancer that rots us from the inside out. So james takes us to the personal first. He's trying to get in our business. And he says, in james one 19, know this, my beloved brothers and sisters, let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger. For the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of god.
