Is There a Sports Writer in Color?

A recent installment of the Netflix series, Untold, focused on the Manti-Tayo story called the girlfriend who didn't exist. I feel like most of those kind of classic sports illustrated stories just are then fodder for like really great biopics. But if you pushed it back a few decades, where you're seeing the athletes at 21 or at two shores after the ballgame, if that could work as a story, maybe.
