Getting sick is tough on any one, but for a 20 something it can feel especially lonely. Most days, my mother was the only person i wanted to talk to because she knew how to read my face better than anyone. She didn't look at me with pity like everyone else. But still, i couldn't bring myself to tell her about my secret recordings. Reciting the prayer wasn't my only form of treatment, but it was mine, and it was starting to work.
