Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has again defied international criticism, warning an IDF offensive in Rafah is inevitable and will last for several weeks.

Israel says that not invading the city of 1.5 million, many of them refugees from elsewhere in Gaza, means admitting defeat to Hamas. Critics, including many of Israel’s allies, fear it means many thousands more innocent lives will be lost.
