Leo's Encyclicals - Two Critical Criticisms of Liberal Political Theory

Pope Leo XIII made a defensive Thomas Aquinas' thought as responding to some of the crises that had grown out of modernity. He wrote it before most of his main political encyclicals, and in it, he defended a return to Thomism. The Pope does not accept the social compact theory of the origin of government That we saw in work. It takes that position firmly and directly in the encyclical Immortale dei. This comes from St. Paul's famous remark in chapter 13 of the Letter to the Romans.
