How to Splice Tape
You have to splice it at a place that there's like a sibilant. You get the blue tape out, and then you cut the other part and glue them together. The magnetic particles are literally reaching across the gap where the tape was. It's mending itself just like your skin mends itself when you get cut. When you do a splice on a computer and it doesn't work out, it's this horrible like tick in the high end above the music.
