The Importance of Coherence in Narratives

A story, text and narration being these key three elements. But in this part of the book you do discuss as you're alluding to other criteria that may or may not be relevant for thinking about narrative. Why is it that coherence isn't included in your definition even though coherence is a prominent part of the discussion in the literature on narrative? Thanks for raising that because I think that it is a really important aspect when we discuss the definition of narratives.
