The Importance of Empathy in English
An important quality in a friend is empathy. Someone who has the ability to understand feelings and relate to others' emotions is empathetic. A synonym or a word that goes along with empathy is sympathy or being sympathetic, meaning you feel bad for someone. The opposite of empathetic is maybe ignoring other people's feelings. If you are congenial, you are very fun and very social. You wouldn't be very fun to be around if you were unpleasant. Along with being conscientious, we'll talk about being thoughtful - full of thought.
