The Importance of Speed in Highway Safety
In the 1950s, we built highways because you would never put people through surface streets at 55 miles per hour. That's how you make high speed safe. New York City has considered implementing congestion pricing for cars driving into Midtown or downtown Manhattan. It does exist in some cities overseas such as London and Singapore.
