The Geopolitical and Economic Implications of the Niger Coup

In the past few years, there have been a series of coups in West Africa. This is part of a larger international campaign by the United States and European colonial powers to reassert a kind of neo-colonial policy politically and economically. In late July, a Western backed leader was overthrown in Niger and a military government was declared. And this isn't necessarily super surprising considering the number of couups in the region. However, the response of Western governments was different because of course, the US and European powers have organized countless coups all across the global south.
