As the boycott stretched into a second week, Black Indianapolis showed no signs of relenting. At an organizing meeting on April 8th, they urged each other to stay strong. One person who didn't speak at that organizing meeting was Robert Merritt himself. He didn't appear at any rallies or march on any picket lines. Instead, he just continued to go to work.
