Russians and the Libyan Conflict - What's the Point?

We actually got the russians to go along with the libya operation at the u.N. Security council, but we did it by lying to them, just outright lying to them. We told dmitri mevde that we only intended to establish a no fly zone so that gadafi couldn't use his air force to attack population centers. Instead, as everybody knows, of course, we just destroyed gadofi's military whole and basically provided close air support for the horde of giatis.
