Movie Review - Is This a Good Way to Deconstruct Romance?
The movie as a whole definitely aims to deconstruct the tropes and the expectations of the romantic genre. I think it's maybe more so a comment on the movies that preceded it rather than an actual perception of love but maybe those two aren't as separated as you might assume. Tom is this who believes in like a soulmate who believes in true love to some extent or at least he believes that two people can get together fall in love and make it work and live happily after after. Summer is the more down-to-earth rational one who whose parents are divorced who recognized like a lot of parents are divorced right now and she doesn't believe in that any kind of love is possible which
