Did David Come Up With This?
The story of a student at Duke University who used his fellow students' work to become a billionaire in China is an attention grabbing one. Was there any consequences for David or for the program or for Duke University or anything like that? Well I think that that episode got a lot of attention when my book came out you know there were follow ups in other media on TV and so on I testified in Congress. It may have contributed to this crackdown in recent years on Chinese American researchers to look at their affiliations in China. Now I have some reservations about the crackdown it seems in a lot of cases to have gone too far and swallowed some people who were not spies are not really doing anything wrong.
