The Problem With Meritocracy

Seth Meyers: I really liked this book. It's a popular book that has some history in it and just sort of genealogy about merit and stuff. He says we have to worry about the way status and recognition are allocated within a society, and what we've done with meritocracy is to ignore that problem. And he diagnoses the current populism in terms of this problem. But there's not a lot of talk about practical solutions in this book.
