The Disintegration of the Enlightenment

Enlightenment was a vast intellectual and cultural movement that changed the face of Western civilization. Newton perhaps did not even realize that he was inaugurating any such movement, but paradoxically is its creator. The enlightenment involved a whole new world outlook, including a new picture of man, his nature, his values, and his rights. In place of superstition was a lawful cosmo.
