Two thousand people attended a service for australia at Westminster abbey. It was part of commemorative events to mark the centenary of passage of the commonwealth of australia constitution act 19 hundred through british parliament. The entire week in london seemed to be an endless procession of ficial openings and drawn out closings. But there was one event in particular, a gathering to celebrate the impending centenery of federation which was unforgettable for its sheer abandonment. Almost as an afterthought, the sound of a lonely digery do drifted around the abbey.
