The Importance of Strength Training for Multiple Sports
Scheduling is much the same for running and cycling. You have to fit it somewhere, so again, it's about scheduling the relative importance of strength training when in the year you should do it. Social media has a fair bit to answer for in that - some athletes are off 18 hours a week and others are 40. But just chucking more training itself is not going to have a better effect. Your tissues and your structures will get damaged and they need time to adapt. And if we cause stress on our body then we allow it to recover beyond that,. We get better adaptations from that. When you go into the gym there will be more females lifting 55 kilo than males.
