The Importance of Building Trust With Other Communities
All of our interview findings have pointed at the importance of avoiding too much ambitious terms like peace building, reconciliation. These are just demonstrations that each community wants its own victimhood to be heard, understood, and acknowledged. The more they feel that they are pushed into one category, or like their own suffering is not being taken seriously by either by their counterparts, by their conationalists, or by the Iraqi government. So I think there is much more resistance, like from the young population, to become hostage of such divisive narratives.
