The Dissolution of the Monasteries
The act for the dissolution of the monasteries passed in the spring of 1536 and that affects how many monasteries that year? Something like 400 monasteries but actually one of the things that's built into the act is the possibility of exemption. And what happens to the monks or the nuns? There's various stages to that part of the thing that Cromwell's men did when they went through the visitation was to essentially expel any monks or nuns. So those people have got to find a way in life, no helping hand whatsoever.
