The Shift in the Liturgical Movement

This chapter discusses the evolution of the liturgical movement, from its initial aim of helping the laity better understand the liturgy to academic theologians calling for revisions to the liturgy under the guise of pastoral care. It explores the problematic ideas and assumptions that emerged from studying liturgy and the influence of historicism in viewing liturgical changes as random and in need of correction by experts.
