Is There a Difference Between Marxism and Weberian Methodology?
In his new book, Weber argues that ideas do play a role in shaping historical processes. He says Marxian analyses tend to have a different methodology than this. In Protestantism, Christianity becomes worldly and enjoins people to take seriously their job as a kind of calling. This originally religious line of thinking fits very neatly with the psychological demands of capitalism.
