Mildred was able to introduce themes of class and struggle into her lectures, with working class and radical literature. Economic conditions of a working class and poor people in germany are time were terrible. This had been fertile ground for the growth of socialism and communism amongst the working class. But with the failure of the revolution and the complicity of the social democrats in the state as quo, it became instead a boon for the narces who could blame an easy scapegoat for people's problems.
